LED bulbs need to reach LED energy-saving standards since 2023

From 2023 onwards, all locally sold bulbs meet the minimum energy efficiency standards and are at least as energy efficient as LED bulbs. This will save the local family an annual electricity bill of 3.5 million yuan.

The National Environment Agency of Singapore recently issued a statement announcing the plan.

The Environment Agency will also raise the "Minimum Energy Performance Standards" (MEPS) for light bulbs, phase out halogen bulbs, and encourage consumers to use more energy-efficient bulbs.

The Environment Bureau will also expand the Mandatory Energy Labelling Scheme (MELS) and require local media to display the energy label of the product when promoting electrical products.
